Anzac Memorial and Avenue of Honour
Redwood Rd GEMBROOK
In 1948, at the suggestion of a few WWII
diggers, the planting of some trees was
undertaken along both sides of Redwood
Road. At a later date inscribed bronze
plaques were laid at the base of the
trees in commemoration of the WW1
servicemen who lost their lives. Redwood
Road became know as the Avenue of
Honour, and now forms a lovely tree
lined roadway which leads to the
Cenotaph in Gembrook Park. The present
Cenotaph was constructed in 1991 by
members of the Gembrook RSL Sub Branch,
however the original Cenotaph still
forms part of the front brick fence of
the Sub-Branch.

Gembrook Cemetery
Blackwood Lane
GEMBROOK
The cemetery was
founded in 1918 and is the second cemetery for
Gembrook. The first one was established on Boyd Road
in 1879 but proved too far for the towns people to
walk so they opened one closer to the village. It is
a very clean, peaceful and well cared for cemetery
that has 5 generations of many local families. We
have all denominations, ashes lanes, memorial rocks
and crypts.
